What we do

The Seniors Forum is the voice of older people in our locality and we see our role as making sure that the viewpoint of older people is taken into account by those who make the decisions affecting the lives of older people and carers who live in, work in or visit Bradford On Avon and the nearby villages and communities which make up the Bradford On Avon Community Area. We are proactive in campaigning on issues that affect the quality of our lives.

We issue regular Newsletters to keep our members informed of developments and campaign progress.

We frequently hold open meetings on topics of community interest in order to raise awareness of issues faced by older people.

In our role as Older People’s and Carers Champion we campaign on behalf of older people and carers over a wide range of issues and matters of concern to both older people and carers. We do this not only by speaking out and campaigning publicly, but also by raising issues directly with the relevant people and authorities such as Wiltshire Council, those who control local NHS services, our Member of Parliament, town and parish councils and other relevant commercial and voluntary organisations, etc. We hold regular “Meet Your MP” event at which people can meet our local MP face-to-face, ask her questions, learn about her work in Parliament and discuss issues of concern with her.

The Forum works closely with a wide range of other organisations including Healthwatch Wiltshire, The Patients and Carers Experience Group at Bath Royal United Hospital, The Bradford On Avon Area Board, The Bradford On Avon Health & Wellbeing Group, Dementia Friendly Bradford On Avon, Link, U3A and Bradford on Avon Streets Ahead transport group.

If you would like to join us and get involved we would love to hear from you. The more of us there are the louder our voice.
